Anthony M. Sola is a senior trial partner in the Firm. Since joining the Firm in 1977, he has obtained 40 years of experience representing both hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice cases, and corporations in products liability actions.

 

Mr. Sola has litigated hundreds of lawsuits in both federal and state courts. He has extensive experience representing three of the major teaching hospitals in the New York area, and for over 20 years has been the partner in charge of the Firm's litigation for one of the nation's largest healthcare systems. As such, he has broad experience representing physicians and hospitals in cases of high exposure, both in compensatory as well as punitive financial terms, and with respect to the media. These include, for example, neurologically injured children, HIV & Hepatitis C multiple exposure cases, and claims for punitive damages and RICO violations for misleading advertising. Mr. Sola also represents carriers regarding insurance coverage issues, and physicians at Department of Health proceedings. He has served as lead counsel to the American Psychiatric Association in New York State, and has represented various manufacturers of products in products liability litigation.

 

Mr. Sola is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers which is considered the premier organization of trial lawyers in the U.S. and Canada. Membership is by invitation only and can never be more than 1% of the number of lawyers in a given state. Since 1999, he has been selected by his peers to be included in every edition of "Best Lawyers in America®." Since July 2006, he has been selected by his peers each year as a “New York Super Lawyer,” a distinction awarded to the top 5% of Manhattan lawyers. He has been AV Preeminent® rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, which is their highest rating,* for over 30 years.

 

"Best Lawyers"® announced that Mr. Sola was selected by his peers as the 2017 "Lawyer of the Year" for Medical Malpractice Law- Defendants in New York City.

 

His practice includes counseling on managed care issues, as well as the development and presentation of risk management programs to physician groups and hospitals. Mr. Sola is a frequent lecturer and writer on medical litigation subjects, including for The New York Law Journal and Medical Economics. He also teaches practicing attorneys on the subject of trial advocacy skills as part of the attorneys' continuing legal education requirements, through, for example, the Law Journal Seminars.

 

Mr. Sola has served the Firm as a member of the Firm's three partner Executive Committee for over 18 years.

 

Mr. Sola received his law degree from St. John's University School of Law in 1977 and a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Cornell University in 1973.

 

He is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia, and before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of New York.
